Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has acquired Satara Power Transmission Limited (SPTL), a special purpose vehicle set up to develop a 765 kV transmission corridor supporting renewable energy evacuation and pumped storage projects in Maharashtra.
PFC Consulting Limited, a subsidiary of state-owned Power Finance Corporation, transferred the project SPV to AESL on October 6 after the company emerged as the successful bidder for the transmission project. PFC Consulting had coordinated the bidding process for SPTL, which was established to develop the “Transmission System for Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to cater to pumped storage potential near Satara (up to 4,500 MW) – Part A”.
PFC Consulting received a consideration of Rs 19.01 crore for the transfer under the Share Purchase Agreement. The acquisition has been completed and forms part of AESL's strategy to expand its transmission portfolio through organic and inorganic opportunities.
765 kV Corridor To Support Renewable Power Evacuation
SPTL is planned to facilitate an additional 765 kV inter-regional transmission corridor between the Southern Region and Western Region grids. The proposed Narendra-Kolhapur-Satara-Pune III/Pune (East) 765 kV corridor will enable additional evacuation of renewable energy generated in Karnataka towards load centres and pumped storage projects in Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in Maharashtra.
The project is expected to strengthen transmission infrastructure required to integrate renewable power and support pumped storage capacity in the region. SPTL was incorporated and registered with the Registrar of Companies, New Delhi, on July 10, 2026.
The company has an authorised share capital of Rs 1 lakh and paid-up share capital of Rs 1 lakh. Its equity shares were acquired at a face value of Rs 10 each. The transaction expands AESL's transmission infrastructure portfolio as India builds additional inter-regional capacity to accommodate growing renewable energy generation and storage projects.
