India maintained fuel supplies across its network of 107,000 retail outlets despite disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, while LPG supplies faced greater logistical pressure because of the country’s dependence on imports.
India’s daily LPG consumption is around 90,000 metric tonnes, compared with domestic production of about 34,000-35,000 metric tonnes. A significant portion of supplies comes from countries near the Strait of Hormuz, and these volumes declined during the disruption. Despite this, there was no shortage of LPG, as per media reports.
No retail fuel outlet among the country’s 107,000 retail points ran dry during the period of global energy market volatility.
Over 51,000 Appointment Letters Distributed
The remarks came during the 20th edition of the Rozgar Mela in Amritsar. The employment initiative was organised across 45 locations in the country, with more than 51,000 appointment letters distributed to newly recruited government employees.
The Rozgar Mela was launched in 2022. Around 12.75 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through the initiative across its first 20 editions.
The latest recruits are joining different ministries and departments, including the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Defence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the newly appointed recruits virtually during the event, focusing on continuous learning, adoption of new technologies and improving citizen-facing administration.
Mission Karmayogi, the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building, is aimed at strengthening the skills and capabilities of government personnel. More than 1.7 crore government employees have joined the iGOT Karmayogi platform, while Karmayogi Prarambh serves as an online orientation programme for new government recruits.
