KPI Green Energy Limited has energised an additional 130 MW AC/195 MW DC of solar capacity as part of its 370 MW AC/677 MW DC wind-solar hybrid independent power producer (IPP) project at Bharuch in Gujarat. Following the latest addition, the company has cumulatively energised 269.7 MW AC/389.7 MW DC of capacity under the hybrid project. The project is being developed by KPI Green Energy under the IPP model and is backed by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).
Hybrid IPP Capacity Expands
The progressive commissioning of the project is adding to KPI Green Energy's IPP portfolio alongside its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) operations. Capacity developed under long-term PPAs is expected to contribute recurring revenues to the company as additional portions of the project become operational. “The energization of a further 130 MW AC / 195 MW DC under our Wind-Solar Hybrid IPP Project is an important step and a big milestone,” said Faruk G. Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, KPI Green Energy.
“With 269.7 MW AC / 389.7 MW DC now energized under the project, we are steadily expanding our IPP capacity and strengthening our base of long-term, recurring revenues,” he added. The 370 MW AC/677 MW DC project combines wind and solar generation and is being developed in phases. The latest energisation takes the operationalised portion of the project to 269.7 MW AC, with further capacity remaining to be commissioned.
