Chennai-based engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company Kshema Power has commissioned two in-house concrete batching plants in Madhya Pradesh to support the execution of its wind energy projects.
The new facilities will primarily cater to concrete requirements for wind turbine foundations, one of the critical stages in wind project construction. With the additional capacity, Kshema Power is targeting the completion of up to 10 wind turbine foundations every month.
Wind turbine foundations require large volumes of concrete to be supplied within defined construction schedules. Bringing concrete production in-house is expected to give the EPC company greater control over material availability, batching, transportation and quality while reducing its reliance on third-party suppliers.
Strengthens Project Execution In Madhya Pradesh
The batching plants will be integrated with Kshema Power's project execution system, linking material procurement, quality control, logistics and construction schedules.
In-house production will allow concrete output to be aligned with foundation construction requirements while coordinating manpower, equipment deployment and transportation. It will also provide greater control over mix preparation and quality monitoring.
The move is particularly relevant for renewable projects located in remote or geographically dispersed areas, where sourcing concrete externally can be affected by transportation constraints, supplier availability and variations in quality and delivery schedules.
Kshema Power has been expanding its renewable energy project portfolio in Madhya Pradesh. The company earlier secured an order from Oyster Green Hybrid Three Private Limited for infrastructure associated with a 350 MW wind-solar hybrid project in the state.
The scope includes the development of a 33 kV/220 kV air-insulated substation as well as the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 51-km transmission line. The infrastructure will facilitate evacuation of electricity generated by the wind-solar hybrid project and its integration with the grid.
