Larsen & Toubro’s energy arm has secured a large offshore order from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the development of the Ratna-I and NLM-14 projects off India’s west coast.
Under L&T’s order classification, a “large” contract is valued between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore.
L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore (LTEH Offshore) will undertake the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) work for the projects, which are aimed at enhancing production from ONGC’s offshore assets.
Three Well-Head Platforms, Subsea Pipelines Planned
The scope includes the construction and installation of three new well-head platforms and one riser platform, along with multiple segments of subsea pipelines and cables.
The project will also involve modifications to existing offshore installations, combining new infrastructure with brownfield work at operating fields.
Parthasarathi Chatterjee, Senior Vice President and Head, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore, said the Ratna-I and NLM-14 developments would add to India's offshore energy infrastructure.
“These projects combine new offshore facilities with brownfield modifications in existing operating fields, calling for careful planning, engineering integration and precise execution,” Chatterjee said.
L&T will use its offshore EPCIC capabilities, including in-house engineering, fabrication facilities and its fleet of marine vessels, to execute the projects.
Project To Support ONGC's Offshore Production
The Ratna-I and NLM-14 developments form part of ONGC's continued development of its offshore assets on India's west coast.
L&T's offshore business has worked across fixed platforms, subsea pipelines and structures, brownfield upgrades and decommissioning projects over the past four decades.
The latest contract will involve both new construction and modifications to existing infrastructure as ONGC seeks to enhance production from its offshore fields.
