Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), the renewable energy arm of Tata Power, has commissioned a 100 MW group captive solar project in Tamil Nadu.
The TNGC-2 project, located across Vellalankottai and Nalandhula villages in Kayathar, is expected to produce about 240.63 million units of clean electricity every year.
The power generated from the facility will be supplied to Tata Group companies, including TP Solar Limited, Tata Power’s solar manufacturing business, Tata Electronics Private Limited and Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited.
Project To Supply Tata Group Companies
The project strengthens the group’s captive renewable energy supply while supporting the electricity requirements of businesses spanning solar manufacturing, electronics and real estate and infrastructure.
The 100 MW addition also expands TPREL’s utility-scale renewable energy portfolio as the company continues to build its solar and wind capacity across India.
The commissioning comes amid Tata Power’s broader push to expand its clean-energy presence across renewable generation, manufacturing and commercial and industrial energy solutions.
