Torrent Green Energy, the green energy arm of Torrent Power, has commissioned 322 MW of ground-mounted decentralised solar power projects across Nashik district in Maharashtra.
The projects are spread across 50 locations covering 14 talukas in the district. Electricity generated from the projects will be supplied to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The capacity has been developed under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, a scheme for feeder-level solarisation under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM programme.
Solar Capacity To Support Agricultural Feeders
The projects will be used to support daytime electricity supply to agricultural consumers through solarisation of power feeders.
The decentralised structure involves solar capacity being developed across multiple locations rather than at a single large project site. The 322 MW portfolio spans 50 separate locations across Nashik district.
Development of the projects required work across land, grid connectivity and local clearances, along with engineering and simultaneous construction activities at multiple sites.
25-Year Power Supply Arrangement With MSEDCL
Power generated from the commissioned capacity will be supplied to MSEDCL for a period of 25 years under the PPAs.
The projects form part of Maharashtra's MSKVY 2.0 programme, which is linked to feeder-level solarisation under PM-KUSUM Component-C. The programme uses decentralised solar generation to supply agricultural electricity demand during daytime hours.
With the commissioning, Torrent Green Energy has brought 322 MW of decentralised solar capacity online across Nashik's 14 talukas.
