The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has invited public sector undertakings to bid for consultancy services for the installation of rooftop solar systems across its buildings, as the utility looks to increase the use of renewable energy across its infrastructure.
The expressions of interest have been sought for rooftop solar installations under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model. The deadline for submission of bids is September 21, 2026.
Solar Projects Across DJB Buildings
Under the proposed initiative, rooftop solar systems will be developed across various buildings operated by the Delhi Jal Board.
The RESCO model typically allows solar projects to be developed without the electricity consumer bearing the entire upfront capital expenditure for the installation. The project developer finances, installs and operates the system, while electricity is supplied to the consumer under an agreed commercial arrangement.
For DJB, the initiative would bring renewable generation directly to its facilities and could reduce the amount of grid electricity required for their operations. The tender is currently for consultancy services, rather than the award of the rooftop solar installation work itself. The selected consultant would support the process of setting up the systems under the RESCO framework.
The bid invitation adds to the deployment of distributed renewable-energy systems across public infrastructure, with government buildings offering rooftop space that can be utilised for decentralised solar generation.
