Tata Power Solaroof has crossed 5 lakh rooftop solar installations across India and is targeting 30 lakh installations by 2029, as it expands its presence across residential, commercial and industrial segments.
The company, part of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), had completed 5,19,673 rooftop solar installations as of July 31, 2026, representing a 14 per cent market share. Its network currently includes more than 700 channel partners and over 250 authorised service partners across the country.
Tata Power Solaroof has also facilitated more than Rs 8,500 crore in financing through over 25 financing partners for residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) customers.
‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ Expands Across 11 States, One UT
The company's ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ initiative, launched in 2024 and aligned with the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, has expanded across 11 states and one Union Territory.
The initiative currently covers Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Chandigarh, collectively representing a population of more than 90 crore.
For eligible residential consumers, Tata Power Solaroof offers financing with down-payment options starting from zero under its Special Financing Scheme. The company said the financing option is aimed at consumers unable to meet the 10 per cent down-payment requirement under the PM Surya Ghar financing framework.
For C&I customers, financing options are offered in partnership with public sector institutions and NBFCs. These include the SunSmart Flexi EMI Scheme, structured as a ‘Pay As You Save’ model that aligns repayments with projected solar generation.
Expands Rooftop Solar Across C&I Segment
Tata Power Solaroof provides rooftop solar solutions to businesses across textiles, steel, cold storage, information technology, hospitality, biotechnology, FMCG, consumer durables, automotive, data centres and tea estates.
Its services for enterprises cover system design, engineering, installation, financing and post-installation support.
Solar modules offered by the company carry performance warranties of 25 or 30 years, while its systems have a minimum five-year warranty. The company has set an initial response time of two hours for customer service requests and a resolution target of 48 hours.
Tata Power Adds Battery Storage To Rooftop Offering
Tata Power has also expanded its distributed energy portfolio to include battery energy storage systems that can be paired with rooftop solar to store surplus electricity for use outside solar generation hours.
For residential customers, its Mysine portfolio offers battery storage systems ranging from 5 kWh to 40 kWh. For C&I customers, the PowerHub portfolio provides systems ranging from 60 kWh to 5 MWh, with additional scalability based on operational and load requirements.
TPREL currently has a total renewable utility capacity of 12.4 GW, including 5.4 GW of projects under implementation. Its operational renewable capacity stands at 7 GW, comprising 5.7 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind.
The company's solar EPC portfolio exceeds 16.7 GWp of ground-mounted utility-scale capacity and 5 GWp of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted capacity.
