UltraTech Cement's Kukurdih Cement Works in Chhattisgarh has been meeting 100 per cent of its monthly electricity requirement through renewable power and Waste Heat Recovery Systems (WHRS) since April 2026.
The integrated unit, commissioned in 2024, has an installed grey cement capacity of 3.3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
Since April 2026, nearly one-third of UltraTech's 76 manufacturing units in India have met more than 50 per cent of their electricity requirements through green energy. Five units, including Kukurdih, have crossed 95 per cent.
As of Q1FY27, UltraTech had 1,897 MW of captive green energy capacity, comprising 1,463 MW of solar, wind and hybrid renewable capacity and 434 MW of WHRS capacity.
The company is deploying Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across its manufacturing network. It has not added new captive thermal power capacity at its integrated units for greenfield or brownfield projects for more than 10 years.
UltraTech has targeted an 85 per cent share of green power in its total power mix by 2030 and 100 per cent by 2050.
